District 3 Swimming Championships
March
2-3, 2007
Northern Girls place 9th
out of 18 and the Boys take 14th out of 21 with the most points
either team has ever achieved at Districts.
Over the past two days
at the Swimming Championships at CV, we recorded 13 career best times, 4 season
best times and 5 new School Records.
Here are the Northern swimming results:
- Girls 200 Medley Relay: Brittney Brooks, Shannon Burke, Kristin Taylor and
Morgan Billman swam a 1:57.94, captured 7th place and set a new school record.
- Boys 200 Free: Chris Garner captured 15th place while breaking his own School
Record with a 1:56.24.
- Boys 200 IM: Jon Wolf finished in 18th place with a 2:17.08.
- Girls 50 Free: Shannon Burke captured our highest individual place (as she
also did in her 100 Breaststroke), when she finished 11th with a 25.60.
- Girls 100 Butterfly: Kristin Taylor captured 15th place with a time of 1:04.61,
which established a new School Record.
- Girls 200 Free Relay team of Shannon Burke, Brittney Brooks, Kristin Taylor
and Morgan Billman combined for a 1:45.95, which was good enough for 11th
place.
- Boys 500 Freestyle: Chris Garner finished in 16th place with a personal best
5:17.51, while senior classmate Sage Morret swam a 5:17.19, establishing a new
School Record.
- Girls 100 Backstroke: Brittney Brooks finished 14th, with a season-best time
of 1:05.62.
- Boys 100 Backstroke: Jared Reneker captured 20th place with a career-best
1:02.24.
- Girls 100 Breaststroke: Shannon Burke finished in 11th place with a 1:13.50.
- Boys 100 Breaststroke: Jon Wolf swam a career-best 1:08.07 for 20th place.
- Girls 400 Free Relay team of
- Boys 400 Free Relay team of Chris Garner, Sage Morret, Jon Wolf and Mitch
Hile obliterated the previous School Record time with a 3:38.00, which was good
enough for 14th place.
Unfortunately, junior Tim McAleer was unable to participate due to illness.

Sophomore Nikki Mizrahi
defended her district title by capturing Gold again at the 2007 District
Championships. She will compete next at
the State Championships to be held at
On the boy’s side,
Senior Jordan Gift finished 3rd and will join Nikki at the State
Championships. Junior Alex Potteiger
finished 9th.

The 2007 Polar
Bear Plunge
February
3, 2007
This is
the 2nd annual Polar Plunge.
The Polar Bear Plunge was started as a venue for swimmers who miss the
Mid-Penn qualifying time. Here, those
swimmers have a chance to compete in a championship meet. Schools from all over the Mid-Penn are
invited and this year, nearly 170 athletes participated.
